Barn in Moonlight
One of the things that interests me about photography is the way it makes me pay attention to light and vision. This shot was taken in the moonlight. To my eye, there was no color, just the shape of my barn. That's because our color perceiving cells, the cones, don't function with low light. But a camera sees color fine in low light -- so long as the exposure is long enough!

Robin Dreyer's Distracted Reading
This image from Robin Dreyer on Celophoto.blogspot.com is a good example of an animated gif used to represent time as a series of stills.
